I was having some problem in my PC and I wanted to get to root cause. It is getting hang anytime. I tried to cleaned it with antivirus and malware detecting tools. But still it is causing probs.

Only 2 programs are running Audio drivers and MS Paint

Processes shows many things running e.g. Skype, Pidgin.. how can that be possible ?

One of the process – “System” is using CPU up to 65 % with just only 236 memory use. In ideal case it should be around 0 – 1 %. I think this is causing hang

With nothing running how can CPU use reach 73 %, In Ideal case I found it to be just 0 – 1 %

Any suggestion, what could be reason and how should I tackle?

Hi,

Click on start and run
-type msconfig
-go to startup tab

Now in that list of items you will see programs that are initiated or started every time you start your computer.
-Go through the list there and if you see programs that are being started on boot and you do not need them running on start (as you can still run the apps manually by using the icon), uncheck the ones not needed to be running all the time in backround and click Apply and let it restart.

That should address a big part of the process usage.

Now here is a link with other tips of things to do to help with cleaning up and 'speeding' up PC.
