I cut the spicket outside my house and to my surprise I see a thick wall copper pipe that I cannot get a fitting for, 1" OD / 3/4" ID.

I have 1" rubber hose to plug with PVC for temporary so I can turn water on. HELP??

Are you sure its just 1 pipe and not one inserted into another? That wall thickness sounds large for copper.

It is copper on the inside and copper on the outside, never seen anything like it in my life. The outside copper pipe is 1" OD. Where did that come from. I have a picture.

Most likely you cut into a frost proof hose bib. How long was the valve stem you pulled out.

I am in Florida. I cut it right behind the brass spicket, could not heat it off.

7/8" OD is a 3/4" copper TUBE. Any burrs on the fitting will not allow the fitting to work.

If you used a tape measure to measure the diameter, go out to the 1" mark for one end. It's difficult, sometimes to get an accurate diameter unless using calipers or a combination square to mark the center of the tube.

Any water in the lines will make it IMPOSSIBLE to remove the fittings.

It doesn't looked brazed, but could be since it's outside.

Tube and pipe have radically different dimensions. Refrigeration tubing is different than tubing. A 7/8" copper elbow bought in a refrigeration supply house is a 3/4" copper fitting bought in a plumbing supply house.

I do suspect it's a 3/4 copper fitting (7/8" OD) with burrs, so it won't fit.

Trust me I got dimensions right, never seen this before.

Was that hose bib installed over this fitting or did it fit inside ?

Most likely, it is 1" x 1" x 1" Tee with one 1" "fit in" end - meaning, 1" coupling should fit over it.

Looks like you cut off right at the hub of a copper tee, you will have to sweat the piece of copper pipe out of the tee, or replace the intire tee.

yep, looks like a 1x3/4x1 copper tee. Looks like you cut the spigot off flush with the tee fitting, when you needed to unsweat the spigot. So you have outside diameter of a three quarter fitting which is roughly one inch, and an inside diameter of the pipe left in the fitting which is three quarters of an inch. Do as truck says and try to unsweat the piece of pipe left in the fitting, or replace the complete tee. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
