The remote control for my hampton bay ceilng fan will no longer turn the light on or off as well as will not dim. The remote will still control the fan speed and direction but the only way I can turn the light on or off is with the wall switch (no pull cord on fan). Is this a remote control problem or a receiver on the celing fan issue?
Thanks,
Darryl

What happens when you push the light button on the remote, does the LED light?

The LED button lights up when pushed but doesn't have any effect on dimming or turning on or off the light.

Probably the receiver then. Contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

Help! Our Hampton Bay Fan with installed remote is not functioning properly. First, it will turn itself on, which is most disconcerting in the middle of the night. Also, the speed control doesn't work now. If I reduce the speed, it will start to slow and then speed back up. It always goes back to high. When I try to turn it off, it will start to slow down but then speed back up to high.
We haven't tried anything yet, just wondering what could be the problem so we know where to start.

Try a different dip switch setting:

My fan has the similar issue with yours. It will automatically turn on after I turn off it by remote control. But I can't figure out how long it turns on itself. If I turn it off by the switch on the fan, the remote can't control the fan. vise versa. I don't know what the problem is. Have you solved the probem yet?

Easiest thing to do if the remote did work and stopped suddenly or got harder to use over time... take apart the remote (separate the top and bottom), remove the circuit board from the plastic housing, and clean the contact areas that are contacted by the buttons of the remote (they are probably small gold circles) . Use a good quality rubber eraser to clean the contact areas ( the small gold circles). When putting the remote back together, ensure that the buttons are not pushed too far through the housing. Led should light and lights and fan will work if it worked before... also get a fresh battery if you are successful
