My mother was contacted in regards to me being summoned to court, I did not receive the summons directly but have the case number. I would like to settle this, but the summons is in a different state. Is there any way I could have it settled in the state I am or would that all depend on the severity of the summons?

What is the summons for?

I don't quite understand - was your mother SERVED on your behalf (as a responsible person) OR just informed of the summons?

If she was served, you have been served as long as she knows your whereabouts. If she was simply informed you have not been served.

Yes, if you were served you have to appear. It cannot be transferred to another State because that would inconvenience the Plaintiff (and it appears the Plaintiff has already been inconvenienced and, thus, is suing.)

What kind of case? I gather criminal. If so, are you referring to a subpoena?
