Please help me.

I am attempting to install bifold (Jeld Wend) doors in my hallway. The floor of the closet is vinyl tile, which lays on top of a concrete slab. The hallway is carpeted. After hours of adjusting the bottom pivot and then sanding the doors, I could not get the bottom of the door to clear the carpet. Sanding takes forever, and I don't have a circular saw to trim the door, so I'm thinking a better solution a would be to raise the floor where the bottom pivot would be placed. Is there a way to secure a block of wood or some other material to the vinyl tile? Would some kind glue help the tile to adhere to the vinyl flooring, or would I have to drill something into the slab?

I appreciate everyone's input.

Sincerely,
Mark

Well you may as well buy a saw, this won't be the last time you will need one. If you don't want to buy a circular saw, buy hand saw. The kind that is powered by your arm.

Cut a block of wood out of 3/4" plywood. Cut it slightly wider and longer then the pivot shoe. That thing that is screwed to the floor and the door jam. Glue your block to the floor with Liquid Nails or silicone. Screw the pivot shoe to the block and the jam. That will raise the door up enough to clear the carpet.

I agree with hk on procedure to clear carpet. U may have to cut doors to fit opening.

I addition to sawing you could plane the doors. Raising the door may not work because of the top of the door frame.

Buy the saw... you won't regret it.
