View Full Version : Floating laminate floor gaps

I had a floating(click-in) laminate floor installed and there are gaps about 3/4" around the door jams/casings. The installer installed additional subfloor which caused a few problems.
1. Front door now sweeps the floor and I am not sure how to fill in the gap between the threshold and the flooring?
2. Installer left about a 6" gap between the bathroom linoleum floor and the laminate. The gap is down to the original subfloor, so the height difference is 1 1/4".
I am not sure what to do with any of these issues. To me the most pressing issues are the gaps around the door jam to the bedrooms, 2 hall closets and the 6" x 1 1/4" gap between the bathroom and hall flooring.
Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated. I have looked at these issues for about 8 months. I have not laid any trim down still trying to decide the best course of action.
Thank you.

Get in touch with company that installed floor and tell them the problem and ask them to fix them.

There are reducer strips that will that care of height difference.

The spaces at doors is bad workmanship.

Do not wait much longer or they may say warranty has expired

Good luck
