Are there any philanthropist that can help low income family for a fresh start after filing bankruptcy? Bk was our last resort due to considerable loss of income. Our house in Fl was foreclosed. We had no choice but to move out of state and live with in-laws. Husband accepted any job available to keep a little money coming in. Have a child with special needs which makes me a homestay mom. We are moving to TN only with our tax refund. Why TN? Less expensive to live and more jobs than where we live. We have no savings, no retirement savings, we live day by day. We are close to retirement, so jobs at our age are challenging. Husband is a go getter type of person and very skillful in many areas of building and a hard working person all his life so after prayerfull consideration I have no doubts that he will find a job to keep us going.

State programs for housing are only for people that have good credit so we do not qualify for this benefit, and in desperation I am asking for monetary help to buy a house. Would some philanthropist help us to get on our feet again? Please, please, no words would be enough to express our thanks for your generosity and altruistic heart. With our success we could also give back to someone in need in the future.

TN has many programs, get with the local case worker for welfare when you get there.

I am struck by the fact that you have lost your house, filed for bankruptcy, your husband is unemployed in a new area, and you're actually asking about buying a house. Don't even think about it! Once your husband gets his job and money becomes a little less tight the first thing you need to do is start saving some money to build up a nest egg for emergencies and to get your credit back in line. You also need to think longer term about savings - if you are nearing retirement age then you know your husband won't be able to work forever. Stick with an apartment lease for now. Maybe in a couple of years if things go well you'll be in a position to think about buying a house, but certainly not now.
