I can start my murry rider it will run for 2-3 minutes then starts to sputter blowing a cloud of smoke and finally quits. 10 min. later I can do the same thing over again with same results. No rod noise.
Is the smoke black or blue ?

Hi,
My guess is that you have had gas contaminate the oil in the sump. It is overfull and this causes the oil/gas mix to be pushed past the rings and be burned in the combustion chamber. Suggest you check oil level and smell to see if gas is present. If this condition exists, engine damage can result.
Peace,
Clarke

Thank you. Your suggested fix did the trick. It was gas /oil contamination. Changed oil and it is now functional. Thanks again.
