You can't unless it is empty. If you try it will either tear or stretch. How long has the liner been exposed to the elements?

Then you may need to be looking at replacement. The liner can become brittle from being exposed to the elements and not covered in water. Might want to budget for that and start fresh.

I was thinking the same thing but for time beging I am going to try to salvage it if I can. I guess pool water here is real expensive at least that is what I am told.

You can always call the water company and ask. Some have restrictions and that is why it gets expensive. And some give you a chance to fill it 1 time a season but after that it gets expensive. So it wouldn't hurt to call.

Once a liner slides down you are usually out of luck. Draining the pool is the only way to remove the many tons of weight pushing down and out on the liner. Once you drain the pool the liner will likely tear while you try to reshape it, a replacement liner, 6 friends , one case of beer cost more than the fresh water to fill it back up.
