So my friend just moved back to AZ from NY his wife and 3 kids are still back in NY. He wants a divorce and he wants to know if he gives up all parental rights does he still have to pay child support?

He doesn't have to worry about it - he CAN'T give up his parental rights.

Use the search feature - this has been asked and answered hundreds of times. There is a "sticky" at the head if this column (at the moment I can't cut and paste).

Please pay attention to sticky notes at the top of many forums. They contains answers to frequently asked questions or guidelines on using the forum. At the top of this forum is a sticky that deals with the issue of termination of parental rights.

Judy is correct, YOU can't give up your rights and you will have to pay support (note the subject line says "I", so I assume you started to ask for yourself, then changed your mind and pretended the questions was for a friend.

And if for some reason, he was allowed to ( which he can't) yes he would have to pay child support
