Hello,

I just bought rth7000 programmable thermostat to replace the original thermostat. Unfortunately, after installing the new rth7000, it powers up and I can access the setting on the thermostat and I also hear it clicking when I try to turn on either heater or ac but nothing blows out, no fan activity. I am pretty new at this whole thing and I thought I can just buy a programmable thermostat to replace regular thermostat. Did I broke something in process or something got shorted during the installation? I check the circuit breaker but it is fine. Please help!!

Thanks!

Do you have the red wire connected to both the RH and RC terminals? If the thermostat runs on a battery, it is possible you shorted out the control power and blew its fuse or the transformer. Does the furnace have a power on light, and is it on? There is often a fuse on the control board.

Yes, I think you are right. I also think I short or blow something up by using the battery. I looked at the furnace and there is no power light. Is there way to reset? If it is the fuse, where can I find it?

Thanks

Follow the thermostat wires. Usually you can see where they connect to the control board when you open the panel to replace the air filters. There should be a fuse, likely the automotive blade style, on it, perhaps near where the wires from the transformer connect. Could also be inline with the wires from the transformer.
