Hi, All!

I tend to get a lot of Charley Horses in my calves. Usually in the morning when I'm still in bed. They hurt like crazy!

Okay, I know that I don't get enough exercise and my diet certainly is lacking in a number of ways... I do try to eat a number of fruits and vegetables throughout the day. Although, I usually do have to force myself to eat. But, that's another story...

I'm also not overweight, and I drink plenty of milk and water. Although, I know that I don't eat enough things with protein in them.

I've heard something about a lack of potassium in the diet being a possible cause for the Charley Horses.

Could that be true?

Also, what sort of exercises should I be doing in order to help prevent them from happening, as well as when they're happening.

I'm not looking for a diagnosis here. Am interested in knowledgeable people who've experienced them and/or who know people who've experienced them and what the person who had them did about it.

Thanks!

Eat more potassium containing foods. Bananas, kiwi, etc. Also make sure you are getting enough calcium in your diet.

Okay, I can find the foods that contain potassium. But, calcium? Won't that affect my bunions? They're really bad!

No Clough, it won't affect your bunions. We need certain calcium levels to maintain muscle health and wellness.
