Hi,

I apologize for posting a question that may have been answered already, but I have perused the site extensively and can't find my exact combination of issues... so, here I am. We have a main floor laundry room at the WEST end of our ranch home (with basement). When the washer drains, it bubbles up through the floor drain in the basement in the CENTER of the house, and also into the basement bathtub on the EAST end of the house. None of the other fixtures seem to be involved. I've tried to snake and flush the air vents and we just snaked the floor drain and basement cleanout with no improvement (although we did meet some resistance from both and pulled out a few small clumps of hair.) Any suggestions on where the clog might be, or if this is a venting issue? I also hear a glug glug GLUG sound (like a water cooler) between the floor drain and the tub as the water passes through. Thanks very much for your help!

Are you on septic, or city main? If septic you may need to have it serviced, and if city main, you may need to run the snake out further toward the main.

The first tells me that you have a partial blockage in the main drain line. Answer Trucks question. City sewer or septic tank?
The "glug -glug " tells me that the system's attempting to vent through the traps of the floor drain or tub.
Either way I think you have two problems to deal with. Drainage and vent. Good luck, Tom

Hi guys,

Thanks for answering so quickly! We're on a septic system, pumped out 2 years ago.

Open up the house clean out and cycle the washer. If you see standing water the tank needs pumping,'
Also snake the tubs roof vent, It sure sounds like it's blocked, Good luck, Tom
