I have a 160 gb HDD and want to format it . It has a partiton of 10gb and I want to remove it so that I just have the one HDD showing in my computer. OS
XP home.

That can be done as part of the rebuild process.
Just delete any existing partitions and use the entire drive from there.

I have tried to delete this partition many times and it will not allow me to delete.

Exactly how are you doing this that it doesn't let you? Are you doing it under fdisk or some other utility assuming a Windows machine, if its an Apple or Unix what are you doing.
Late edit: I missed that you have XP.

Above with disk mngmt should work, here is a link for free partition software - be careful of changes making when using any type of partitioning software

Before applying any changes in disk mngmt or software, make sure you are sure the changes you are applying is exactly what you are attempting or want to do
