I have a Sears riding tractor, model 917.288031.
Prior to changing oil, spark plug, etc. mower was operational.
When I finished the maintenance part, I went to start the mower, but the mower
Would not CRANK, nothing. Each time I turned the key on, all
I get is a click . Does not even try to turn over.
The battery was checked, and is good.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like the solenoid.

I narrowed down my Sears riding tractor problem; of not starting, cranking.
It's the starter, but when testing further, I can not turn the flywheel, its locked-up.
Q. How to I loosen the flywheel? Thanks

<I merged the threads because it's still related to the same problem>

A parts diagram should be at www.searspartsdirect.com

The flywheel can be jammed for a number of reasons.
1. recoil starter jammed
2. an output jam
3. The starter gear jammed
4. A valve clearance issue
5. An internal engine problem

First, take the plug out and see if you can rotate the engine. If you can suspect valve clearance.
