I am asking this question for a friend. My friends is pregnant. There is 2 possible fathers. Although there are 2 possible fathers, my friend is convinced that it is one pacific father. She intends to put the fathers name on the birth certificate no matter what. That potential father will not be present at the birth because he does not believe he is the father. He is willing to take a paternity test. The question is, Can she put down the name of the father she thinks it is with out him being there or allowing her to do this? So if she puts down that name as the father and he is proven not to be the father through paternity test, is it a simple matter to have his name removed? I hate to bring it up , but if she puts his name on the because and he proves he is not the father, will he have to pay support anyway? Most importantly, do they just let woman place any name they want on a because at a hospital when the baby is born?
