It's a shirt that basically if it shows off your belly, it can be counted as a crop top. Some women wear a sports bra as a crop top, some crop tops are made of spandex and snug, others are a bit looser. Length will vary a bit depending on the type of shirt and the wearer's comfort level... :)

You do need to keep your mom aware of your growth. At your age development will be pretty rapid and you might be going through bras pretty quickly as you develop. So if mom doesn't want to get too many at a time, its because you will grow out of them quickly.
