Hi All
I have just received my paycheck. I earned US $4256 and paid a tax of US $798.12 -- Can some one let me know what is the tax ratio that is been deducted from my paycheck.

* I understand I do not have to pay FICA taxes
* I understand I have to pay Federal and State tax

Q1 - I am in VA - Can some one suggest me what is the tax ratio on CPT ?
Q2 - I have heard I can file for a tax return in 2011 for since I am non resident alien - Can someone give me any idea how much I will be paid back? Am I going to get nearly 50% back of the taxes I have paid ?

Q3 - I am married however my wife is in my home country - Pakistan - so I didn't list any dependents in my W4 form - Did I filled it correctly? Can I declare my wife as dependent on W4 and save any tax?

Q4 - I have heard there is a treaty between US govt and Pakistan of US $10000 for students. Is it true? If Yes how can I benefit from it ?

Thank you so much in advance -

1) You can find the tax rates for Virginia at the link below:

The Tax Foundation - State Individual Income Tax Rates, 2000-2010 (http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/228.html)

2) You probably will get a refund, but how much depends on your withholding levels.

3) You cannot claim your wife as a dependent if you file as a non-resident alien.

4) Maybe; I need to know your visa status to be sure.
