Q.1 The angular diameter of the sun from earth is about 16’. If the distance of the earth from the sun is 1.49*10^11m, then what will be the diameter of the sun?

Q.2 The distance of a planet from the earth is 3.66*10^8 m.if the diameter of the planet is 9.6*10^5 m,what will be its angular diameter?

Q.3 Calculate the value of acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the moon(mass of moon=7.4*10^22 kg , radius of moon=1740km , G=6.673*10^-11Nm^2/kg^2)

Q.4 A force of 2kg wt acts on a body of mass 4.9kg.Calculate the acceleration.(g=9.8m/s)

Q.5 A ball dropped from a balloon at rest clears a tower 81m high during the last quarter second of its journey. Find the height of the balloon and the velocity of the body when it reaches the ground.

Q.6 A ball is dropped from a height of 1m. How long does it take for the ball to reach the ground? With what speed does it hit the ground?

Q.7 Calculate the vertical distance through which the moon falls in 2 days.

Q.8Compute the length of the second’s pendulum when the value of g=9.8m/s^2.

Q.9 The mass of the bob of a simple pendulum is 100gm.The pendulum is at its equilibrium position. Find the restoring force.

Q.10 A simple pendulum is kept in a lift which falls freely. What will be its time?

Q.11 A brass sphere filled with mercury acts as the bob of a simple pendulum. The sphere has got a hole at its bottom through which mercury is constantly oozing out. How will its time may vary with time?

Q.12 An ultrasonic wave is sent from a ship towards the bottom of the sea.It is found that the time interval between sending and receiving the wave is 1.5s.If the velocity of sound is 1400m/s in sea water ,calculate the depth of the sea.

With the exception of Q7, these are all good basic questions to test one's understanding of freshman physics - nothing too challaneging here. But I think Q7 is bogus - I wonder if the term "vertical distance" means the distance from the center of earth to center of the moon, and if one is supposed to assume that the moon's orbit is perfectly circular. Of course it's not, so to get the answer one really needs a lot more data.

Hi, gulshanmadhur100!

This site isn't the kind where people just plug in their homework questions and expect to get answers. Please show us some effort on your part as to what you've done to answer the questions that you have to answer.

If you do that, you'll be more likely to have someone knowledgeable come along to teach you how to arrive at the correct answers yourself.

Thanks!

The toughest questions for who, please? Do you know the answers to all of them?

I can give you what I believe to be the toughest questions, but it would be in another topic area.

Also, please don't misuse the rating/comments feature. I asked you a question. I didn't say that what you're asking is homework. Therefore, I was not factually incorrect.

For more information about how to use that feature, please click on the following link.

"No, no, I'm not trying to get free answers to my homework...I'm just, um, er, ah, ... posting a 'challenge' to see if anyone's sharp enough to answer these homew...I mean, 'challenge' questions...yeah, that's the ticket."

Kind of comical, ain't it ;)

And yes, you definitely need to read the guidelines on the reputation feature. "Disagree" means that you're rating someone's answer to a question and that answer is incorrect. This is giving someone a negative reputation for answering incorrectly. It does NOT mean that you are answering "no" to their question. Big difference.
