I'm 16 years old and my boyfriend just turned 18 and he says no matter what we can't date because it will ruin his life if he goes to jail because he has always wanted to be a cop. We are madly in love. We spend every second talking or hanging out. He's my life. So he broke up with me but I wanted to know if we still date its fine as long as we are not having sex, but does that involve kissing too?

Your boyfriend could kiss you as that is not against the law. He is afraid though of going further than kissing and he does not want to wreck his future now. If anything I commend this young man for having personal restraint in not dating you at this time. Wait until you are 18 and see if you two still feel the same. If it is meant to be, it will be.

He just does not want to be prosecuted by your family even if he didn't do anything more than kiss you.

Exact laws vary my state.

Age of Consent including what it means and the different laws (http://www.avert.org/age-consent.htm)

LEGAL AGE OF CONSENT  (ageofconsent.com)      Age du consentement à l'acte sexuel (http://www.ageofconsent.com/ageofconsent.htm)

Remember that they don't consider it accurate so you will have to find the local government website. And some count kissing as consensual sex.

PS: You have a smart "Boyfriend".
