You have some sort of infection in your lungs. Please consult with a doctor if this persists as it could be worse than you think. Someone as young as you smoking should not have such nasty phlem problems!

Could be allergies, infection, cold coming on,many things.

See the doc.

I vote for allergies. I've been having the same stuff for the past week. Started one day as a large amount of clear phlegm, then got worse. Getting slightly better each day.

Allergies seem likely this time of year. But like the others said, best to see the dr. suddenly everyone at my work seems to have infections that cause them to cough a lot. Could be something going around in your area too.

You have moderate tree pollen in your are now. Pollen Count for Chesnee, SC - weather.com (http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/allergies/weather/USSC0054?type=Tree) That's going to be the most active this time of year.

I'm allergic to Oak and Birch and there is an Oak tree in the back yard. When it's really active, I pick up garbage bags full of pollen.

So, this time of year the suspect is tree pollen.

If it were late August to the first frost, then I'd suspect Ragweed.
