View Full Version : Thought from Lord God

I am struggling these days to identify which thoughts are from Lord God and which ones are from the enemy. Yesterday I was telling about Jesus to one of my friends. He has run into a very tough life and sometimes think of quitting everything. I assured him of having faith on Lord God and leave everything in HIS hands and pray to HIM to take away his burden and deal with the situation. During the conversation, I got this thought two three times of asking him to come to mall and have a coffee and carry on the talk. Later a thought came to me that you want to do that so that the conversation should break and you do not want to continue telling him about Jesus. After about 30 minutes of this last thought, I asked him to come to mall and he agreed instantaneously saying that it had been days since he has gone out. When I heard that I was so amazed that the first thought was so right and I took that as HIS calling. So we went to mall and sat for a coffee and continued that same talk.

Now the point is I had both kinds of thoughts. In future how would I identify that which is from God and which is from devil. I know it is very hard but if you had experience/s of these please share and what is your learning in this regard.

Adage, When in doubt, doubt the doubt!
It holds doubly true in your christian walk. Anything Satan does not want you to do will be cast in doubt. Abilities, finances, whatever it is. Remember, Satan's only tool right now is doubt. If we allow him to cast doubt into our lives, and we stop or do nothing, he in effect has won. It is by our persistence in moving foreword that we find victory.

Hi, Triund!

Are you a member of a particular denomination? If so, which one, please?

Thanks!

For me I have learned to listen to my instincts. Where do our instincts come from? I think that many times the thought that comes to our mind, and we can usually figure out which ones are right or not right. Obviously it was the second guessing that was the devil speaking. The second guessing, the questioning is what causes the trouble and problems.

Like the above answers has said Doubt is the major cast of the devil and he will always try to put doubt in your walk with Jesus in order to interrupt your walk.

I am so happy to hear that you listened finally and that, that is actually what needed to be done. You have touched this person with the love of Christ and because of that. His walk will be a lot lighter just for taking that time, and coffee and having that outing.

The only devision of ones thoughts from those Jesus thinks can be found in Jesus words. Determine to know all that Jesus says and why, and he promises his spirit to guide you.

As a christian when we do good evil is always present. I have found myself second guessing myself over things and thoughts I know came from the Lord.. Satan is cunning and he will try to make you feel anything you do right is wrong.

He is a sly one and he paints a beautiful portrait of sin. He never shows you the cost of that sin. If people could see him in his true form they would run seeking the Lord. When you feel God speaking to you ,thank him and when Satan puts those thoughts in your head, rebuke him by speaking the words of God. He hates that and when you say the name of Jesus he trembles... I hope I've helped you . Blessings:)

I find it difficult to blame satan for my thoughts. IT seems a bit like giving him undue credit. Which in retrospect is almost a form of praise to my mind. I will take responsibility for my thoughts, and leave the devil out of it. Jesus says in Matt. 6:22 the light of the body is the eye:If therefor thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. vs. 23 but if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

I learn from this principle that my eye(which speaks of what I perceive) is to be single(or to say focused). If the focus is on evil it will corrupt my understanding entirely. I have come to believe that this principle speaks expressly of my capacity for judgement of myself and others. If I focus on the truth and grace of my Savior and king as it applies to how I perceive any situation or circumstance I will have a peace which cannot be explained without sharing this with others who in turn apply this principle to their reality. I hope this really blesses you.

You are right! I don't give Satan credit when I do wrong, because it makes him stronger. If he had the power to make us do what he tempts
Us to do we would be in trouble. We have a free will, God gave us that when he gave his only son to die for us.

God has power to strong for Satan. No I don't give him credit but he will make us doubt. Thank God the spirit of the Lord lives within us. Thank God satan trembles and flees when we speak the words of God.
Blessings to you.:)

Dear friends, I am thankful for the inputs you gave on this issue. Those help me a lot. I guess I have to practise more and keep reading the Bible to make myself familiar with the Word of God. I hope with more experience and understanding and guidance from Holy Spirit I would know about the thoughts which are not from Lord God.

Very recently, I realized that even though we walk in light with Lord Jesus, yet devil would not give up from throwing ropes in our ways to trip us down. We would for sure keep getting dark thoughts but if we give into those, our fall is guaranteed. If we do not give in to that, we have won over the desires of flesh and brought ourselves in HIS company. God bless you all.

I've been a part of many different denominations for nearly forty years. This has been due to my being a leader in music in the churches. The different denominations will think and look at things in different ways. So, it made sense to me to ask the question.

By the way, I was a part of the Anglican communion for over seven years.

God's Love and Peace to You! :)

Thanks!

Buy the book, "Living With Confidence In A Chaotic World".
It is written by David Jeremiah.
Wonderful book. Another one I can recommend is "When God Whispers in The Night", by Max Lucado. Your library should have these! Blessings.

Triund,
I suggest that you trust your instinks and feelings with thought of God in mind.
When in doubt about that ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit.
Don't think of the devil, rather think God in all things.
Peace and kindness,
Fred

The old tempter will put thoughts into your head. You have to ask god to help you resist. Satan is sly but he can have no power over you when you speak the name of God. Blessings:)
