No.

The Gates belt number can be found int his document. http://www.royalsupply.com/downloads/GatesLG-Guide.pdf

The generic part number can be found by looking up the belt spec on the Gates Website. Just print out a copy when you go get a belt. The smart ones can make a generic part number out of the spec.

I guess they are not smart because they gave us the wrong belt. I tried to find the length of the belt at the website you said to go to, and I found nothing on the length . Do you by chance know where I could find that info

If you have a single belt this is the part # 954-0485
If you wait until tomorrow I'll be going by my shop and I can look in the cross over book and give you the size.

If you go to the .pdf I referenced, and search for the model #, there are 4 possible belts. Type 25 in the page # at the bottom of the page. It spans two columns. Two belts at the bottom left and two on the top right.

What Gates p/n do you come up with?

According to the book,
For a 42" deck with a manual pto
the belt is 954-0485 its 5/8 " x 97".
Luck

That's not EXACTLY what I get with your info (manual PTO). I get a Gates 6575BR with your info, 21/32 with an inside length of 97.15"

It doesn't seem to cross to a standard belt number.

Usually you can go to a NAPA auto store with the Gates # and come back with the right belt.

This came out of the MTD book that's who makes this mower ,
But either one would work, because this has a spring loaded idler on it.21 /32 will not go as far into the pulley so it's a hair longer
