I was just given a lovely set of dishes by Noritake, it's a complete set for 8. This set is brand new except for some recent use of the dinner plates. Should I keep these plates for use in entertaining only , or possibly everyday dishes.
Could you value them for me so I make sure I don't damage them in the everyday use.
These are called Moon Flight, #8971.

In searching for pieces the dinner plates for this set are worth about $20 each right now, a cup and saucer set is worth $10 for both pieces, so you can kind of get a basic idea. One person's "complete" is different from anothers... like some people consider a cup, saucer, dinner place and salad plate complete. Other people need dessert plates, soup bowls, serving pieces, coffee service, etc. to consider a set "complete".

I think whether you use them only for entertaining or every day depends on your household and how careful you are with things. $20 per plate is a little steep if your family tends to break things (you can get service for 8 in regular kitchen dishes for probably under $100, compared to probably around $50 per placesetting for this china), but if it's an adult household where things are cared for, why not enjoy them all the time?

I would just recommend you not put them in the dishwasher on a daily basis - the detergent is a little abrasive and over time can make the dishes dull. Also, the heat can damage and wear off any gold or other metal rims or decorations over time.
