How long can I keep a personal check without cashing it?

How long can I save a personal chech before I decide to cash it\?

My bank won't cash it after six months. Some banks, especially now in these times of economic stress, may say much less than that. Check with your bank.

Generally 90 days.

Typically 6 months its stale dated. Working at one, I verified it.
