I have an intermittent open in the wiring for the shift lever mounted overdrive switch. How do you replace the switch including the wiring?

The wiring should come as a harness. But in order to make things easier to work on it might be best to remove the entire colomn from the car. Also be very very careful and be aware there is an airbag contained in the wheel. Follow all recommended removal procedures for handling the air bag like removing both battery terminals and allowing the car to rest for minimum 1/2 hr.

Thanks but this sounds extreme. I've had the steering column apart and there are just 2 wires going into the shift lever. I just need to replace the swtich at the end of the lever and then connect the wiring.

If you just have 2 then you wouldn't ned to pull the colomn. Some I had seen integrated the wires into the ribbon harness. Those are a pain.
