My son was removed from my home yesterday due to suspicious abuse. My sister is VERY willing to take him, but children services will not allow it due to a past (and taken care of) DUI that is on my sister's record from 08/09. Can she not have him or do we need to look into this?

It would appear that Children's Services has already determined that your sister cannot "take" the child.

What are you asking?

Child services wants a safe place for the child. It doesn't make a lot of sense to take a child out of a home where abuse is suspected and then place the child with people who have proven to have poor judgement - excessive drinking and driving under the influence. They may also feel that placing the child with your sister would make the child to accessible for you.

Instead of fighting the decisions of DCHS, wouldn't it make more sense to work on the issues that resulted in losing your child?
