My friend stole a lawn mower worth 2 grand one night dropped it off in the woods to pick it up the next day I had no idea about this at all they used my truck by the way the next day I woke up early from where we were at and left he called me an hour later and said he needed a ride home so I went home took a shower turned around then picked him and another kid up the one kid was to big to sit in the 2 person truck so I just sat next to my other friend and let him drive they took a turn down some street and were like I threw that tractor in the woods and now its in the drive way I had no idea they stole as these idiots were backing up to put it on the truck a cop pulled us over and was like yeah this was reported stolen and you guys were coming to pick it up weren't you. They tol them no and were just going to a friends house in the area well the cops got our numbers and told us that we could go but I'm so worried I'm ging to get a call saying they know they stole it will I be charged as an accomplice it was my truck but I wasn't driving I didn't touch the tractor and I didn't even know they did that

... i just sat next to my other friend and let him drive they took a turn down some street and were like i threw that tractor in the woods and now its in the drive way i had no idea they stole ...

This is the part of your story that will make it difficult for the judge or jury to believe in your innocence.

They picked up a lawn mower from in the woods, you didn't ask any questions, and next thing you know it's in the driveway? Ya, right.

Make sure you get yourself a good lawyer.

Yep, make a deal testify against the guy who used the truck if they will.

Hello johnny:

I don't think you're lying. I just think you're not too observant, or you're too willing to help your friends...

Look, plead not guilty, and tell the judge what you told us. If HE believes you, he'll let you go. If not, you're going down.

Hopefully I get a good judge do you think there is a good chance these police will find out that they stole it? Its been a week and no call from the police yet also there was no cameras they said where they stole it, the only thing the cops have is we were there in a truck when they came by this stuff is stressing me out

hopefully i get a good judge do you think there is a good chance these police will find out that they stole it?Hello again, j:

Nahhh. They caught who they think did it, and it's off their books now.

It's not that you need a good judge. You need a good LAWYER.

Hello again, johnny:

Look, I don't know what's happened in your case except what you've said here. The cops caught the right people - the guy who stole it, an the guy who helped him which is YOU. It doesn't matter that you didn't know what was going on.

Or maybe you DID know what was going on. Certainly when your friend LIED to the cop about the mower, that was a CLUE to you that everything wasn't right. If you weren't involved (and I believe you weren't), THAT was the time to speak up. You didn't, and the cops are going to charge you, just like they're going to charge your friends.

Even IF your friends tell the cops that you weren't involved, the cops won't believe them. You need a good lawyer.

What I'm saying is in your opinion do you think that the cops are going to call us in for questioning? Its been a week already and no call

Mar 11, 2010, 09:09 AM
I'm pretty sure they are not going to take fingerprints and their alabi was good. The cops got the number from us who house we were supposed to be going to said they were going to call him and walked away but when they talked to the guy he said he never got a call

No. I think their investigation is DONE. IF you hear from them, it'll be when they show up to arrest you.

Look, Youngster, cops don't act like they do on TV. They're lazy. They don't "investigate". They caught who they think did it. They're right. Investigation over.

Hello again, j:

It's cool. That's why I'm here.

It's been my experience in these situations to hope for the best, but expect the worst.

If they don't come for you in 3 months, then chances are good that they never will.

johnnycakes
Mar 11, 2010, 08:02 PM
Do you guys think they will come or not

Fr_Chuck
Mar 11, 2010, 08:03 PM
Most likely they will file their report showing you did it. Then they will turn it over to the DA who has to in some areas present it to a grand jury who will decide if they will charge you.

Then they issue a warrant and they come arrest you for it, not take you back in for questioning.

This is not TV, don't except anyone to look for more evidence or try to prove you anything, they try to convict the first people they have evidnece on.

My guess 3 to 6 weeks, and they will come. Or even worst, they merely issue a warrant, but care little to arrest you, ( officers are too buy) and just wait till you get caught speeding, or when they ever get around to it. Courts here are cutting budgets and the officers who go out and serve warrants are cut back

Mar 11, 2010, 09:02 PM
So we are defiantly screwed? They have absolutley no proof that they did it at all no finger prints video camera we were just at the wrong place at the wrong time

Mar 11, 2010, 09:05 PM
Watching way too much CSI, you were there with the stolen mower, with the people who stole it. Yep screwed is the correct legal term for it

Mar 11, 2010, 09:05 PM
Also I live in a very liberal state and if the cops wanted to do something they would have take us in on the spot right their in my opinion that's how I've seen it with other cases

johnnycakes
Mar 11, 2010, 09:12 PM
What do you guys mean I'm watching too much csi? They can't put any charge on us the cops didn't exactly know it was us he even told us that you know where I'm coming from it just looks like you guys did it and my friends cousin did live next door so that was the alabi and they bought it but they didn't call him like they said they would

johnnycakes
Mar 12, 2010, 08:29 AM
Yep they called me and my friends in last night and questioned us but had no proof to charge us they said to kepp our noses clean and to be safe not be seen around that area again
