Hi.. I am a F1 Student from India... I am current working in CPT in New York and my school is also in NY(I am doing my graduate studies)... I am totally new to Tax filling so can I know
1) What forms to fill in?
2) I have my W2 and 1098-T form with me do I need any thing else?
3) Am I allowed to claim any returns from my 1098-T?
4) Can I use Turbotax to fill my tax?
5) is E-filing allowed for me?
6) And also is it possible to claim any returns from the rent that I pay for my apartment?
7) Is there anything else that I will need to lookout for?

If you have not yet filed, contact me at [email protected] for professional help.

You would file form 1040NR-EZ and Form 8843, plus the NY state return.

Form 1098=T s worthless to you, because, as a non-resident alien, you CANNOT claim any education credit or deduction.

You CANNOT use TurboTax to file your federal return, though it may be useful for the NY state return. If you filed the federal return using TurboTax, you file incorrectly!

No, your rent is NOT deductible.
