Hi...
I am finishing a room in my basement (really it is the only room) - most of the bottom floor of my house is garage. I need to maximize space in my home. The following is a picture of the corner of the room (where a bathroom could go). Most of the posts I have read are about adding a bathroom, I would like to remove it. There is already one at the top of the stairs. I plan on putting laminate floor in that room. The pipe to the left goes up to about a foot below the floor joists and isn't capped. The toilet hole is covered with something that seems pretty solid (recesses in floor about a 1/4 of an inch). The concrete in basin where the drain is for the tub would go has parts that come above the floor about an inch (there are also some parts that just have dirt) as seen in the photo...
I have been in the house 10 years and there are no water/leaks/smells in that room.
What should I do to remove the batroom?
The pipe will be in a wall that will go against the foundation wall (cap that?)
Put floor leveler over the toilet hole?
Break out concrete in basin and pour in new concrete lo make level with the floor? How far down? Also, the basin/bucket seems to be offset (not level with the floor) - any consideration there?
Could all of this be done in a way that would give the future homeowner the option to put in the bathroom at a later date?
Don't know if it matters, but main drain for my home goes down into the ground (about 2-3 more studs over to the right) from what you see in the photo. There is a cleanout there - which I will provide access to when the wall is finished.
Any advice anyone has would be appreciated.
