View Full Version : Dryer not heating as much, Timer?

I have an admiral dryer which I believe was actually manufactured by maytag, only reason I bought it and good price.

It is model# AED4475TQ0. Only a few years old but old enough to be out of warranty... just.

All of a sudden it doesn't seem to be drying clothes. On any cycle. Sometimes it will surprise me and get hot enough to dry in one cycle and I think it was the wetness sensor cycle. Sorry I am trying to keep track of anything unusual I might notice but I just don't see at this time any consistancies. So the bottom line is I am having to dry things usually twice. There is heat just not hot heat if that makes sense.

Don't know if this makes a difference or just coincidence, but drying issue seemed to happen about the same time but can't bet my life on it. I bought one of those new bounce dryer bars that sticks to the inside of the dryer tub wall and then you replace when empty. Mine, the actual fabric softener bar, fell apart and although I got most of the pieces, some "escaped" out of the tub and must of gone into the sensor holes inside the tub? Only way to escape. Could this have done something that would affect any cycle I pick to dry with?

Forgetting about the bounce thing, if a dryer was acting this way, would you say it was the timer?

Appreciate your help. Husband is very handy but would still need some detailed instructions as he is not familiar with this machine.
