Children develop differently, on their own time, you can't force it. You are expecting too much from a l9 months. Old. If he is crying when you are pressing him, you are frustrating him. This will not help his development. Keep talking to him, be gentle and patient. Because he is not speaking, or responding the way you want does not mean he has a low IQ.

Children are all different, and you won't know this until later in life. My first child walked and talked by 18 months, but my second didn't walk until 15 months. She is just 18 months now, but she really doesn't say much either. My first child is very smart, but my second is intelligent in a completely different way. Each child grows at their own state.

Every child is unique and learns at different rates and times. Just because one 19 month old has a hundred word vocabulary and another doesn't talk at all doesn't mean anything. In the end the child that didn't talk may end up being the one with the most smarts.

JUST BE PATIENT!
