View Full Version : Hot and cold water is somehow backwards in shower but water lines are correct

I recently installed a new shower valve. I verified (many times) that I installed the hot and cold lines to the correct connections but when I turn the water on to "cold" hot water comes out and when turned to "hot" cold water comes out. I didn't see anything in the manual that indicated it's possible to switch the cold/hot water without switching the water lines. Any way to switch the valve to correctly flow hot and cold water without switching the feed lines? The Valve is a Kohler right temp/pressure balancing valve (Forte, I think). Any help is appreciated!

You can fix this by either removing the handle and rotating stem 180 degrees, or you may have to shut water off, remove complete cartridge assembly and rotate it 180 degrees. Almost all newer single handle faucets can swap hot and cold by turning the stem or cartridge assembly 180 degrees. Hope this helps. Let us know how things work out. Lee..
