I have a girl friend who is receiving a inheritance from a bank in malaysia through a law firm. The law firm is in control of the trust. Her parents have been deceased for 8 years. The will stipulated that she reach a certain age which she has met. The other stipulation is that she be married in a stable relationship with the husband being in control of the funds? Her parents were from the United Kingdom,Old School. She also inherited a import/export business which she is still running.the business is based out of malaysia. She went back there 2 weeks ago to buy, sell, and trade. She went and seen the laywer who has known her all her life. She convinced him she had a very stable relationship and soon to be married. He came to a conclusion, and agreed to release the funds, but not to her. He wants to name me next of kin, and transfer the funds to my bank account? I have communicated with him via e-mail and phone.he has asked for personal info. And I have sent some, but not all that he wanted yet. I checked the name of the bank he sent and is legitament. He said that the funds will be transferred in 3 installments. Are these funds taxable, he told me they were not. What will the bank say about the amount of money. We are talking over 8 mil. I did not find out about this until last Thursday 2-25-10 I am stunned ,out of my league. They want to wrap all the paperwork and do the 1st transfer by the end of the week. Asking for advice.

Did you do a private back ground check on everyone involved? If not I suggest you do so before anything happens.

Something sounds amiss here,You would be wise to check and double check and even consult with a different attorney
