I moved in with my boyfriend with my son. My boyfriend has 3 children who live with him. We then married, the house is in his name only. If we were to split were do I stand. I have put a lot of money in the house to decorate etc

Depending on what state you are in. In Ohio for instance the home is his property as he had it prior to your marriage. In other states it would be joint property.

If you are married has the topic of adding you to the deed ever come up?

If you are in one of the states like Ohio when and if you get divorced your share of the house is zero. You would only get credit for the money you dumped into redecorating and not the actual home.

In most states this house would be considered his house and you would not be intitled to any part of it, even the money you have put in to it could be considered rent money.

So if you are still on speaking terms I would see if you would put the house in both of your names.

This may be the case in Texas. I can only address NY. Anything the OP paid for which increased the value of the house entitles her to a share of that increased value.

Do you have a citation for the "rent money"? I can't find it. Thanks.

I've never heard of "rent money" either.
