Hi,

Can I break my lease if the landlord at my apartment has taken over a month and I half to fix hazardous things in my apartment such as the fan and dishwasher. And now the roof has a hole and it is leaking it fills with water like a huge bubble and leakis more then it should and there is a little piece hanging. It has been about a month and a half and they still have not fixed the problem.

Thanks you,
Colleen Gonzales

I am a landlord, and so sorry to hear you have repairs needing to be done. But are you on a lease or a month to month contract. If you are NOT on a lease in Missouri you just have to give 30 days notice, but if you have a lease you cannot do that. (I'm going on how we as landlords do here). My renters are all month to month, easier that way if you want them to move, you give them 30 days notice too. What hazardous repairs were you referring to? A dishwasher not working, or a fan, I don't think qualify for hazardous. The leaky ceiling might, not sure though. I do not personally think you can get out of this lease (if it is a lease). Good luck to you.
