I have a murray riding lawn mover. It is not firing and want start. We have replaced all safety switches and solieond but when we remove the ground wire from coil pack (magneto) engine will fire with the ingnition switch, but will not turn off with the key. Replaced wire with to the coil pack still no fire to the spark plug and still will not start. Please assist if you can diagnose the problem and send a resolution. Thanks for the immediate attention to this delima!!

Uplug the wire going to the coil,run a jumper wire to coil,start engine ,ground jumper wire to engine,if it dies coil okay check key switch with multimeter for omhs to kill wire make sure its working.If it doesn't die replace coil..

I would say it is the switch. Easier to go further with a model number.
