Okay, so last year my mom and me had this huge thing planned to move to Denver, Colorado. When we were packed up and ready we had to pass it through a judge that I could go with her (we thought it would all be okay) but my dad showed at the meeting and fought to get me to stay in Montana. I was so upset I cried and sometimes still do I have never once in my whole life been away from my mom. So now I'm almost 14 (I am 13 now) and my dad is sort of easing up on it all and letting me choose. I talk to my mom everyday and its almost been a year since she's been gone. My mom wants me down there with my biological brother and my mom's new husband. All 3 actually say they want me down there. My brother is also my hero. I love all of them. I live with my dad and his fiancée and her son. My soon to be step mom and me don't always get along and its constant stress up here. What should I do?

Depending on the state laws you might at 14 have a say so in where you live. I can understand your problem. But someone is going to be hurt no matter what happens or who you choose to live with. In the old days kids were not allowed a say in which parent lived with. So count yourself lucky and enjoy the time you have. Maybe you could try and make a deal with both parents and live 6 months with each?

If your dad is easing up and letting you choose, he is trusting your decision. Donn has a good point, why not wait until summer break, and go and stay for the summer to see how it goes. You'll be there long enough to decide if you want to change schools and friends and make a life with your mom and brother.

You didn't say how often you visit your mom, but hopefully you have that opportunity often, to keep up with what's going on in their lives.

Try not to let the fact that you don't always get along with your stepmom guide your decision. You won't always get along with your mom, and maybe her new husband either. That is just life, and the life of a teen is not an easy one.
