My daughter was caught stealing around $100 in makeup at a Walmart. She told me she did not deny it, was cooperative, and since this is her first offense, the man did not call the police. She gave the man her license, filled out a form and was told that she would received a letter from walmart for restitution from $50 - $500. What would be the estimate on how much she'll be fined considering the amount she tried to steal? I trust that the scare and the payment is enough of a lesson for her to not repeat this offense again but what I'm worried about is if this would be in her criminal record and how much will it affect her ability to find a job/have a career in the future?

If no police were called and they are not filing a report then it stays within Wallyworld. As far as restitutuin goes you have to remember that there is a lot more going on then just her stealing something. Also expect a lifetime ban from that store.
