Only yesterday my girlfriend of eight months decided to break up with me giving me a litany of reasons of which I was told none of them involved me or was my fault.

This was strange given that only hours earlier we had made plans to see a movie and she was really keen to go on the date but whilst popping into work she had spoken to some friends and everything had changed.

At this stage I'm struggling to understand why giving that she told me that she still loves me and I have treated her better than any of her other boyfriends and had the best Christmas of her life with me and my family and loved the way my family had accepted her.

The reasons given were
She just wants to be alone
Doesn't need a relationship
That something had changed for her and felt guilty being around me

I asked her if this is what her heart really wanted and she could not look at me in or even tell me yes she just looked down and nodded.I think she may have been pressured by her so called friends to break up with me.

To make me feel even worse she was grabbing a few things and was in tears and so being a caring guy I went for a comfort hug and got completely rejected... ouch that hurt.

Finally after a teary good bye she stared in to my eyes for a few moments gave me a kiss on the corner of the mouth and said she wanted to see me again?

So I have maintained no contact in the probably misguided hope that she may realize what a mistake she has made.

Looking for some help to understand how you can love some so much and yet treat them in such a way.
