One thermostat controls 2 electric baseboard heaters on separate walls in the same room. One now heats the room to 80, even with the thermostat shut off. The other heater doesn't give off any heat. Any suggestions on how to figure this out?

Tada! I switched off the breaker to look at the first heater (the one that was overheating), but didn't see anything obviously wrong. I did notice there are 2 heating grids wired together. After I switched the breaker on again, it worked fine! Then, I noticed the second heater functions, but only on the side farthest from the first heater (the one that now works fine). Follow me? I took it apart and found that the cold section has 2 metal parts not connecting and there is a burnt area. So, I'm thinking the heating grid should be replaced, but these units aren't made anymore. I have all the info. From the label inside the unit. Any idea where I can find a 46" cast aluminum heating grid from the now defunct Singer Company, Auburn, NY?
