Hi, this subject is related to tax issues.
My wife is not in the US yet, she has visa interview next week AND Of course DOESN'T HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY YET, BUT she will eventually get one here in the US who knows when.
We have been married since September 2008.
My question is that can I claim her in tax forms? Can I file as married?
Please help.
Thanks.
PS" I am a US citizen.

A U.S. citizen or resident can choose to file joint return as residents even when the spouse is nonresident alien and has never been to the U.S. Attach W-7 with your tax return.

If you want to wait for SSN it is your choice. At present your spouse is not eligible for SSN.
