Hi,
I've been on H1B visa status since Oct. 2008 and am intending to visit my family in Japan in April 2010.

In addition to a valid passport and an H1B visa stamp on it, do I have to have any documents with me when I come back to the US from Japan?

H1B status period: Oct. 2008 - Sept. 2011
Passport expires : July 2012

I appreciate your help for this matter.

If you changed your status to H-1B when you're in US, you need to submit new application at US consulate in Japan. Use form DS 156-157 and supported documents from your employer, approval notice from USCIS, etc.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply to my question.

However, I think my explanation was not long enough.

Here is my situation;
I have already done those paper work, received H1B VISA STAMP ON MY PASSPORT in Japan, been on H1B status since Oct. 1 2008, and NOT LEFT THE U.S. SINCE THEN.

I am intending to visit my family in Japan in April 2010 for 4 weeks.
I am wondering whether I have to have any documents with me and show them to an immigration officer at an airport when I come back from Japan.

Thank you for your time about this.

If you have consulate issued H-1B, then you don't need any additional documents... :)
