I will file for ITIN for my wife (W7, her certified passport and tax return documents) for 2009 Tax return. I have the following questions:

1. Do I just send the Federal Tax return with W7 or include State California Tax return as well? What happens to State return?

3. Do I need to send Federal AND State taxes AFTER I get the ITIN number to the addresses on the both returns? Or my Federal Tax return is complete since I am sending my W7 and tax return to Austin, TX? Do I file State return after I get the ITIN? This question is related to number 2.

Thanks

File W-7 with federal return.
Normally wait for filing state return till you get ITIN. You can apply for extension to file.

So, I don't need to file federal and the only thing I have to do is file state (California) return after I get the ITIN? Keep in mind I'm getting refund from both federal and state.

Thanks
