This question is related to a tile shower floor in a home 2+ years old. The home has a built-up concrete slab with the tile shower floor over the slab. Currently, the floor is leaking into the next room. The plumber checked the valve for leaks as he thought the portion of the valve that would go down to the tub (if I had one) was not sealed off. It was after he cut a hole in the wall to check it. After he filled the shower up with water, a few minutes later the water started showing up in the next room. After inspection of the shower floor, we noticed grout cracks around the drain and along the top plate of the curb (shower door positioned on curb). We also noticed a small hole in the grout next to the drain. Could this area around the drain be the problem, and if so, how would you fix it without tearing out the shower floor? Thanks for any suggestions.

I would call in a tile company and have the shower grouted. Over time grout shrinks and opens up. Sounds like that's the cause of your leak.
Good luck, Tom
