OK so here is the situation... I plead guilty to a felony in the state of North Carolina. I did this simply because I was afraid of jail. I can honestly say that I don't think I would have been able to handle it. The Charge was AWDW and the offered me 1 year of probation if I plead guilty but they were going to go for the maximum if I went to trial. I have an signed an notarized affidavit from the "victim" stating that is was in fact an accident. Needless to say I have regretted my decision for the last 7 years. I have heard that in many states you can have the charges changed on your record. So, is this in fact possible and if it is what would I have to do. Any help would be appreciated.

At this point I feel that too much time has elapsed in your case for you to be successful in getting the felony reduced. Plus you did plead guilty as well. Regardless of what notarized paperwork you may have, it is too late to do much about this.
