How many pounds of freon will the carrier infinity system lose before it shuts down? The unit is 2 1/2 years old. I had a service tech come out and service the unit. He did enough that day to get the heat working because it was 26 degrees out. I was told it took 5 pounds of freon to get it working. When he came back a week later to find the leak he only put in another pound. Can you put that much freon in on such a cold day.

To many variables to offer an exact answer but if the system has a leak it should be repaired. Depending upon exact size of system,length of lines, and inside coil size are all variables as to how much refrigerant a system will hold when properly charged.
