Yes, you will definitely need a trap under the shower. Was there a shower or tub in the location you are installing the new shower? Can you access the drain from below the shower, or are you on a slab.

There wasn't anything there before, I am expanding a small washroom to addthe shower. I do have access to the drain system in the basement.

You will have to cut into the lavatory drain line with the shower drain line. That wet vents your shower. You will come 0off the lavatory drain with a wye or a combination wye and eighth bend. You will then pipe over to the shower location and install a "P" trap and raiser in the exact spot the shower drain will set. There will be directions with the shower base on how to connect the shower drain to the trap raiser. Good luck, tom

You run the drainage and trap/raiser over to the desired location and give us all the information you have on the shower unit you purchased and we'll walk you through the rerst of the installation . OK? Tom

Hello Speedball/Tom,
Here is the information on the shower.
It is an AX-406 Complete shower room and it has a flexable drain tube that attaches to the bottom of the shower drain and I guess the other end is to go into the waste water system somehow. If you give me your e-mail address I have a photo of the flexable drain tube. I tried to attach it to this e-mail but I can't seem to get it to work.
Respectfully, Karl

For some reason It won't let me print out my addy. Here's how to attach a picture.
How do I add pictures and other file types to my post?
A. "Attach" files (including pictures) from your computer. This method puts the attached file below the text of the post.
Click on an Ask or Answer button to ask or answer a question
Compose your question or answer in the window.
Under the window where you composed your question or answer is a section called Additional Options.
Click on the Manage Attachments button: a pop-up dialog will open. NOTE: The Manage Attachments dialog lists the maximum sizes of the various types of files that may be attached.
Click the Browse button to navigate to the image on your computer and double click the file on your computer: this will return you to the dialog window.
Click the Upload button.
Click the link to close the dialog window OR repeat numbers 5 & 6 to attach another image.
B. "Embed" image(s) from the internet. This method inserts an image wherever you wish within the text of your post.
Click the Insert Image icon above the posting window: A pop-up asking for the URL will open.
Enter the URL of the image in the field then click the OK button.
