I am 22 years old, married with 1 child (under 2). I make 25k/yr. I am a college student.

On my pay stubs I am paying all normal taxes except federal... Is this suppose to be happening? I do not want to have to pay money to the government when I submit my tax return... mainly because I would not be able to afford it.

Ask your employer why they are not withholding federal taxes from your pay check. I asuume that by "normal taxes" you mean they are witholding social security and medicaire, right? What about state income tax?

Taxes are held out ( or not held out) according to your payroll amount ( weekly or bi weekly) and what you claim. So you will want to sit down with your payroll and review these.

TBO:

If $25K is your only income, and you are married with ONE child, you will owe ZERO income taxes when you file due to the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit.

That being the case, having any federal income taxes withheld is giving the U.S. government FREE use of your money. That is NOT good money management.
