I assume you used someone else's card and you got caught. Have you been charged with credit card fraud ? If you were caught dead to rights, there isn't much you can do but own up to it and take your punches.

The situation is: I got credit cards which weren't belong to me. I used those cards to buy time for my cell phone. The total amount is $100 dollar ( 3 cards for $100 dollar). And then, yesterday I got email that it was a serious problem due to my association with credit card fraud.

Where? And, yes, it's credit card fraud and, yes, you can be prosecuted. I doubt you will serve time for this relatively small amount BUT you will have a criminal record.

How did you happen to get cards which did not belong to you? Did you steal them, did someone give them to you, did they get sent to you by mistake? The circumstances might determine the outcome.

I don't know where you are. Anyway, the owner of the credit card will report the misuse. The credit card company will probably remove the charges from his account and then the credit card company will file criminal charges against you. Some companies file against everyone; others file over a certain dollar amount. If you tell the Police where/how you got the card they may strike a deal with you in exchange for the info. They also may not.

It's hard to say.

So could you please tell me what the consequence is?

Again - without knowing where you are, no, I can't tell you that.

It will depend on whether you are charged with a felony or dismeanor. Are you an accomplice? If the person who gave you the card has done this before I see you becoming implicated in something very serious.

Too many unknown factors to know what will happen - only the DA knows and that will be only after you are criminally charged.
